With raw materials from the Sunnmøre coast, we offer a range of first-class seafood products for both national and international markets. Brødrene Remø is built on a passion for the sea and a long history with generations of seafarers, whalers, fishermen and sealers. The company was established in 1918 by founder Severin Fiskerstrand, who drew inspiration from his experiences in the USA. We have evolved over the years and now offer a range of seafood products.
Our key values are quality, tradition and passion.
Our story
1918
Severin Fiskerstrand moved home to Fiskerstrand, inspired by his passion for the sea and his own experiences in America. He decided to use his knowledge to create something unique and lay the foundation for a family interest that is still going strong more than 100 years later.
1923
In 1923, a seawall was built at Fiskerstrand to support the farm's shop with a quay, foodstuffs and fishing gear for sale and distribution. This boathouse became known as "Sambua" and would later become an important part of the company's global seafood distribution.
70s
After the 1970s, a new era began for Remø Brothers, an era that would cement its place as a pioneering force in the seafood industry. The advances in salmon farming at the time opened doors to even greater opportunities. As knowledge spread and technology advanced, Norwegian Atlantic salmon emerged as a sought-after delicacy on the global stage. The Remø family saw the potential and were determined to build on their heritage.
1985 -
In 1985, a reawakening of purpose breathed life into Sambua. Built by the founder's grandfather named Severin half a century ago, the historic boathouse had witnessed generations of toil and dreams. This marked a turning point for the Remø family. The next generation took the helm, driven by the vision of creating a key player to be reckoned with in the seafood industry. This marked the birth of Brødrene Remø AS.
The journey ahead
Vision and adaptation in the salmon processing industry
The focus now shifted to salmon processing, an area that had enormous potential. The founders of Brødr. Remø AS were not just inheritors of tradition, but visionaries who saw the potential to develop and adapt to change. Quality, tradition and a deep-rooted passion remained core elements, but innovation was the driving force.
Sambua, once a boathouse, was destined for a remarkable transformation. Guided by the dedication of its founders, it underwent a transformation into a state-of-the-art salmon processing facility. This transformation wasn't just about modernizing the infrastructure; it was about embracing cutting-edge technology, adhering to strict quality standards and creating an environment that ensured the freshness and quality of seafood products.
Embracingcutting-edge technology and strict quality standards
The founders understood that to compete on a global scale, they needed to be at the forefront of innovation. The facility was equipped with advanced production lines, temperature-controlled environments and a comprehensive quality control system. Each phase of the processing was carefully executed to preserve the delicate flavor and texture of the salmon while extending its shelf life for international distribution.
Expansion and influence in step with the times
The transition from Sambua to a modern production facility was not only about upgrading the physical space, but also about cultivating a culture of excellence. Skilled craftsmen worked alongside the latest technology, ensuring that the traditional expertise passed down through generations merged seamlessly with the demands of modern manufacturing.
This commitment to innovation and expertise bore fruit. Brødr. Remø AS quickly became synonymous with premium seafood products. Their Atlantic salmon, processed with care and precision, received recognition from connoisseurs around the world. From the Far East to the other side of the Atlantic, the name Brødr. Remø AS carried the legacy of dedication to both tradition and innovation.
As the years went on, Brødr. Remø AS continued to expand its reach and influence. The founders' dedication to sustainability and responsible practices ensured that their success was not only for the present, but for generations to come. Their story serves as inspiration for those who understand that legacy can be the foundation for growth, and that innovation can be cultivated while remaining true to one's roots.
